Projects

There are many improvements to be made at Salem Ridge Wesleyan, and many improvements provides us with opportunity after opportunity to see God's faithfulness as he answers prayer and helps us.  We serve a great, big wonderful God.  In Jeremiah 32:27 God says, "I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world.  Is anything too hard for me?"  And in Mark 10:27 Jesus stated, "Humanly speaking, it is impossible.  But not with God.  Everything is possible with God." - NLT

God still hears and answers prayer...

On April 8, 2020, tornado-like winds swept across Salem Ridge destroying and damaging various buildings.  These included homes, barns, and also the Salem Ridge Wesleyan Church building.  Over a third of the roof was completely removed.  The building was shoved sideways on its foundation and also leaning to one side.  In addition to the wind damage, there was extensive rain and water damage.  We realized that we needed to just have the building torn down and removed, so and we did just that.

Afterwards, we began remodeling the inside of the parsonage house situated right next to the church.  Work was begun, and God sent help exactly when it was needed.  By November 1st, we were moved in and having our first service in the remodeled parsonage.  It's been quite an adventure, but God has been with us every step of the way!  God is FAITHFUL!

Porch, Sidewalk, and Parking - July 2019

As of July 2019, the Lord sent us all of the money that we needed in order to have a porch, handicap ramp, sidewalk system, and new parking area built!  The contract was given to ACL Construction of Maysville.  We thank God for his goodness and faithfulness to us and to His work!

Painting the Church - September 2015

In 2015, we decided it was time to "launch out" to repair the woodwork on the outside of the church, power wash it, fix up the windows, and then give it a couple good coats of paint.  It was quite a project, but the carpentry repairs were finished and the power washing was completed, and a date for a "painting party" was set for late September.  A few days before the painting party, the weather forecast was calling for rain on our party.  What should we do?  Should we postpone it?  Sister Charlsey Turner received "a word from God" after opening her Bible:

"And the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and did work in the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king." - Haggai 1:14-15

In fact, the day that Sister Charlsey received this word was also the 24th day of the month.  Taking it as a "go ahead" from the LORD, Charlsey insisted that, in spite of the weather forecast, we were to go ahead with the painting party.  It was amazing. God did, in fact, stir up the spirit of the people, and they did come to work on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God.  Even people who do not regularly attend came to work.

It had rained the previous night and Pastor Jonathan walked around the church praying about what to do because two sides of the church were wet, though the side that was protected by the church house (parsonage) was basically dry. Suddenly, it came to him to go ahead and paint on the side that was dry, and then by the time we would be ready to move to the back, the back would be dry and ready to paint.  Informing the workers of the plan, the ladders and scaffolding were set up and the people tore into the work.  In fact, by the time the people were ready to start on the back, the LORD had dried it!  After finishing the back of the church up to the gable, it was time for lunch.  Then, upon finishing lunch, the workers were ready to move over to the far side of the church to paint, and by that time, it had dried out!  Finally, the painting was done and the people went home.  And, it had rained all around the area during that day, but it never one time rained on the workers of the house of the LORD.  They remained perfectly dry.  Glory be to Jesus!

These photos show what things on the church looked like before the work began.

God is simply awesome and amazing.  His mercy and faithfulness are higher than the heavens, and His love is from everlasting to everlasting.  The Psalmist said, "I cried out to the Lord, and he heard me."  And that is just what we did concerning the old, orange theater seats that were in the sanctuary.  "Dear Jesus, couldn't you help us get rid of these old orange theater seats and help us get nice pews?  And could we have a different refrigerator for the parsonage?  The one we have now isn't working."

And low, out of the abundance of His resources, just a few weeks later the LORD answered and provided us with beautiful blue-padded pews that were just the right size for our church!!!  FREE!!  And he also threw in...a refrigerator!!!!

Septic, leachfield, and restroom project - 2012/2013

Wow.  What an account of God's faithfulness.  For many years, Salem Ridge Wesleyan did not have enough land to meet county zoning regulations for the installation of a septic system and leach field for a modern restroom facility.  Then, one day, God up and provided just enough land to the church to allow the church to meet the zoning requirments.  That in itself was amazing.

Then, after Pastor Jonathan began ministering here, he felt like God was showing him that it was time to have a septic system, leach field, and modern restroom installed for the church.  Trusting God and His leadership, we pushed ahead with the installation of a modern septic system and restroom facility.  God not only prepared the way, but He provided the money, the muscle, and the materials.  We give God all the glory for this.

Yes, the new, modern bathroom is up and running!
